Emergency Contraception

If you have had an accident with a condom or forgotten to use one you might get pregnant. There is a single pill called the emergency contraceptive that helps prevent this. It works best if taken within a few hours but still works up to three days after the accident. It is very safe and doesn't usually make you feel ill.

It is available free of charge from sexual health clinics, GPs and some pharmacies - you should say straight away that you need EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION. You can find places in the local area that provide it here
